Big Hong Kong Bank Joins the Latest Trend of Cryptocurrencies!

One of the world’s biggest banks, HSBC, has launched a blockchain-based tokenized gold product. HSBC has released a blockchain-based real-world asset (RWA) called Gold Token, aimed at retail investors. In an announcement made by the bank on Wednesday, March 27, it was stated that the HSBC Gold Token, produced on the Orion digital asset platform, can be used through HSBC Online Banking and HSBC HK Mobile App. Maggie Ng, HSBC Hong Kong’s Wealth and Personal Banking Head, commented on the product, saying it is a first in its field: We are proud that the HSBC Gold Token, supported by HSBC Orion, is the first individual investment product in Hong Kong based on the distributed ledger technology authorized by the Securities and Futures Commission. Last November, HSBC partnered with Metaco to offer digital asset custody services to its corporate clients.
